Dawn Johnson: Cultivating Inner Peace on and Off the Mat
Dawn Johnson’s yoga journey began over 20 years ago, but it wasn’t until 2017 that she felt a powerful calling to share her love of the practice with others. As she says, “Yoga is not just about the poses, it’s about cultivating kindness for yourself and the world around you.” This philosophy is reflected in her teaching style, which is energetically soothing and focused on fostering loving-kindness (Metta) for oneself and others.
Dawn completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, focusing on the Baptiste Power Vinyasa style at The Hot Room. Her passion for learning only grew from there, and she has since expanded her skillset with a Kids Yoga certification from Silly Hearts Yoga (“super fun training!” she exclaims) and Reiki Master certification.
When Dawn isn’t guiding students on their yoga journeys, you can find her nurturing her hidden talent: keeping plants alive! She’s a dedicated vegetarian who enjoys gardening, exploring nature, and whipping up delicious meals in the kitchen. Her feline companions, Chloe and Kenny, also play a big role in her life. Kenny, in particular, holds the prestigious title of “official yoga cat,” often joining Dawn in Savasana pose (corpse pose) during her home practice sessions.
Dawn’s dedication to self-development and her desire to create a safe and welcoming space for her students is evident in everything she does. She believes that yoga is a gift to be shared, and her classes are a testament to the transformative power of this ancient practice.
